The Minelab GOLD MONSTER 2000 is extremely sensitive to small and medium-sized gold nuggets, especially in mineralized ground, but its depth depends on the size of the target and soil conditions. In general, the GOLD MONSTER can detect rice-grain to match-head–sized nuggets at just a few inches, marble-sized nuggets at around 6–10 inches, and larger multi-gram nuggets at deeper levels—often 12 inches or more in favorable ground. Like all VLF gold detectors, highly mineralized soil will reduce depth, while neutral ground will increase it.
