The ACE 400 isn't designed for saltwater beach hunting since it lacks the ground balancing needed for wet sand and salt conditions. It works fine on dry sand areas above the high tide line, but you'd want a waterproof detector for serious beach hunting. Take a look at our beach metal detectors for better saltwater options.
