The Garrett ACE 400 has a larger 8.5x11" DD coil for more depth, Iron Audio for hearing rejected targets in the background, and five search modes versus the ACE 300's more limited mode selection. In practical use, the ACE 400's larger coil is the most noticeable difference - it covers more ground per sweep and reaches deeper on good targets. The ACE 300 costs less and works well for casual use. For anyone who expects to take the hobby seriously, the ACE 400 is worth the price difference. See the full ACE series lineup.
