On dry sand above the waterline, yes - any ACE model with a waterproof coil works fine in dry sand. In wet salt sand or the surf zone, the single-frequency VLF technology will false-signal due to salt conductivity, and the non-submersible control box means you cannot wade into the surf. For beach detecting in wet sand and surf, you need a simultaneous multi-frequency machine with full waterproofing. The Garrett AT Pro or AT Max are waterproof to 10 feet and much more stable on salt beaches than any ACE model.
