The Garrett AT Gold metal detector runs at 18 kHz specifically for sensitivity to fine gold, thin jewelry, and small targets. It is the right choice if those target types are your primary goal. For general coin and relic detecting, the AT Pro at 15 kHz is typically the better choice - lower frequency gives more stable depth on medium to large targets in variable soil. The AT Gold is more susceptible to ground noise in highly mineralized conditions than the AT Pro. Choose the AT Gold if fine gold and small jewelry are the priority; choose the AT Pro for general all-terrain use.
