The Minelab Equinox 800 includes dedicated gold modes and can find small to medium gold nuggets in moderately mineralized ground. It is not the right tool for serious prospecting in highly mineralized goldfields where the Minelab GPX 6000 or even the Minelab Gold Monster 1000 will significantly outperform it. For gold jewelry and coins, the Equinox 800 is fully capable. For active gold prospecting in productive mineralized terrain, use a dedicated gold machine. See gold detectors and Minelab GPX 6000.
