The 10-foot rating is more than adequate for the submersion depth encountered in typical surf wading. For actual dive detecting beyond wading depth, a higher-rated option like the Quest XPointer Scuba is needed. For all beach and surf wading applications, the Pro-Pointer AT's waterproofing is fully adequate.
