The SX24's DD (Double-D) configuration offers superior ground-balancing performance in mineralized soil compared to concentric coils. The DD pattern cancels ground signals more effectively, which reduces false signals and chatter in iron-rich dirt, red clay, and wet saltwater sand. Concentric coils amplify mineralization noise because their circular field interacts with a larger volume of ground; the DD coil's overlapping windings create a narrower detection field that samples less ground per sweep. If you're hunting relic sites with hot rocks or beaches with black sand, the SX24 will run quieter and more stable than a concentric coil of the same size.
