The RC40 is not ideal for high-trash areas where target separation is critical. This coil excels in open spaces like fields, beaches, and parks with minimal trash, but the large 15.5" x 13" footprint picks up multiple targets simultaneously in trashy sites, making it difficult to isolate individual coins or relics. When you're hunting old homesteads, schoolyards, or urban parks with dense iron and aluminum trash, you'll get better results switching to a smaller coil in the 8-inch to 11-inch range. The RC40's strength is depth and ground coverage, not discrimination in cluttered environments.
