The RC40 ships complete with a protective coil cover and all necessary mounting hardware. The coil cover protects the coil's bottom surface from abrasion when you're detecting on rocks, gravel, or abrasive sand, extending the coil's lifespan and preventing damage to the waterproof seal. You should install the coil cover before your first hunt and replace it when it shows significant wear, as a damaged cover can expose the coil to impacts that compromise the waterproof integrity. Replacement coil covers are available separately if you need to swap a worn cover.
