The XP ICON offers three ground balance modes: Grab, Manual, and Auto Tracking. Grab mode samples the ground when you pump the coil and sets the ground balance automatically, suitable for stable soil conditions in parks and lawns. Manual mode lets you adjust ground balance in single-point increments for fine-tuning in variable mineralization. Auto Tracking mode continuously adjusts ground balance as you walk, adapting to soil changes in plowed fields and beaches where mineralization varies across the site. The multi-notch discrimination system with 28 segments works in conjunction with ground balance to reject iron and aluminum trash while accepting good targets in the same conductivity range.
