The Garrett AT Gold ships with a 5" x 8" PROformance DD submersible search coil and a coil cover. The factory coil is the right starting coil for nugget hunting: small enough to slip into rocky pockets, low enough mass to swing all day, and tuned for the AT Gold's 18 kHz signal. Most prospecting trips never need a different coil. For wider coverage in open dry-wash work, a larger DD coil increases ground covered per swing and adds depth on larger nuggets.
