The VX5 operates in simultaneous multi-frequency mode and also offers a dedicated 13 kHz single-frequency option. Multi-frequency transmits and processes more than one frequency at the same time, which keeps target ID accurate through ground changes that would force a single-frequency machine to retune. We default to 13 kHz single on dry parks because it stays quiet around streetlamps and signage, switching to multi-freq when the ground reads hot or chatter spikes near walkways.
