The VX5's built-in lithium-ion battery delivers approximately 15 hours of search time per charge and recharges over USB. The high-speed USB cable that ships in the box doubles as the firmware data cable, so you can update the detector and recharge the pack with the same cable. We carry a spare USB power bank when traveling, which eliminates the disposable batteries our team used to carry in detector bags for older machines.
