The Garrett AT MAX is fully submersible to 10 feet (3 meters), which means the control housing, coil, and lower shaft can go underwater for surf hunting, creek wading, and shallow-water recovery. The included MS-3 Z-Lynk headphones are not submersible, so the detector also includes a 1/4 inch headphone jack for wired headphones when you hunt below the surface. We've taken the AT MAX into wet salt sand, shallow surf, and creeks without issue, and the waterproof rating is identical to the AT Pro and AT Gold.
