The Garrett AT MAX uses the same coil connector as the rest of the AT series, so any AT-compatible coil will work. The included 8.5 by 11 inch DD PROformance coil is the right tool for general coin, jewelry, and relic hunting in mixed ground, and it's what we leave on the machine for most days. Our team has had good results with smaller 5 by 8 inch DD coils for tight, trashy spots like old foundations and yard borders, and with larger 11 by 13 inch DD coils for open pasture and freshly turned fields where extra ground coverage and a touch more depth on big targets matter more than precision separation. All AT-series coils are coil-cover compatible.
