The ACE Apex uses Multi-Flex coil technology, and only Multi-Flex coils are compatible with the detector. Garrett makes the 8.5" x 11" DD Multi-Flex Raider as an optional upgrade coil for larger fields and open beach work. Prior ACE coils from older models are not compatible with the Apex, and the Apex Viper coil will not work on older ACE detectors. The Multi-Flex platform requires low-impedance, broad-bandwidth coils to support the detector's six frequency modes.
