The Goldmaster 24k offers two audio modes: 2-tone Beep mode for a quick high-low read on target type, and VCO Zip mode where pitch and volume rise with signal strength. We default to VCO for prospecting because it telegraphs depth and target size in a way single-tone audio cannot. The proportional response in VCO mode maps signal strength to pitch and volume, so a faint, high-pitched tone indicates a small or deep target, while a loud, low-pitched tone indicates a large or shallow target. For fast iron-versus-non-iron calls in trashy ground, 2-tone Beep mode gives a binary read that speeds up target recovery.
