The Garrett ACE Apex's 8.5 x 11 Raider coil and lower shaft are submersible, so the detector handles wet sand, shallow surf, and ankle-deep wading. The control box itself is rainproof, not submersible, so keep it above the waterline during beach and creek hunts. We run Multi-Salt mode in wet sand and surf for stable target IDs that a single-frequency detector would lose to ground noise. For detectorists who split time between dry fields and coastal permissions, the water resistant rating on the coil and shaft covers most hunt scenarios short of full submersion diving.
