The Garrett ACE Apex uses Multi-Flex coils, which are not compatible with older ACE detectors, and prior ACE coils are not compatible with the Apex. Garrett offers two Multi-Flex coils for the Apex: the 6 inch by 11 inch DD Viper (narrow profile, better target separation in iron) and the 8.5 inch by 11 inch DD Raider (wider footprint, better ground coverage and depth). Both coils are fully submersible and support all six frequency modes. The Viper ships with this configuration, and you can add the Raider coil separately if you want a second coil for open-field hunting. The coils are interchangeable at the lower shaft.
