The Garrett ACE 400 adds Iron Audio, a higher 10 kHz operating frequency, and the larger 8.5 inch by 11 inch DD coil over the ACE 300's 8 kHz frequency and 7 by 10 inch concentric coil. Both machines have a 0 to 99 Digital Target ID and four-segment iron discrimination, but the 400's Iron Audio vocalizes masked iron so we dig less trash in heavy coin sites. The ACE 300 is lighter and simpler, while the 400 is built for detectorists who hunt trashy parks and farm fields where iron discrimination and target separation matter.
