The IM13 5" coil does make the Impact lighter and easier to swing for younger detectorists or beginners who find the standard 11" coil tiring. The reduced weight and smaller footprint make the detector more maneuverable, which helps new users develop consistent swing technique without fighting arm fatigue. The tradeoff is depth: beginners hunting open fields or low-trash sites will find more targets with the 11" coil's extra depth. The 5" coil is better suited for teaching target separation skills in trashy environments where the learning curve is about isolating good signals rather than maximizing depth.
