You can use the 5.5-inch coil for dry beach hunting above the waterline, but the PulseDive is optimized as a scuba detector and pinpointer rather than a full-time beach machine. The pulse induction technology delivers excellent saltwater stability in the wet sand and surf zone, making it effective for recovering recent losses in the impact zone. The 5.5-inch size provides adequate ground coverage for grid-searching towel lines and volleyball courts. However, the PulseDive lacks the discrimination resolution and ergonomic shaft design of dedicated beach detectors, so extended dry-sand sessions are less comfortable than using a purpose-built VLF or multi-frequency unit.
