After every saltwater dive, rinse the coil and connector thoroughly with fresh water to remove salt crystals, sand, and organic debris that accelerate corrosion. Pay attention to the connector pins and O-ring grooves where salt buildup causes connection failures. We soak our coils in a freshwater bucket for 10 minutes after beach dives, then dry the connector with compressed air before storage. Inspect the coil cover for cuts or abrasion damage that exposes the coil housing, and check the O-ring seal for cracks or compression set that compromises the waterproof integrity. Apply silicone grease to the O-ring annually to maintain flexibility and sealing performance.
