The EQX 15 is not the best choice for trashy sites with dense iron and aluminum debris. The larger coil is less effective in trashy sites with dense targets because the 15x12 inch footprint causes target masking where good signals blend with trash signals in tight spaces. In old homesteads and urban parks with bottle caps and rusty nails concentrated in small areas, the 11-inch or 6-inch coil provides better target separation because the smaller detection field isolates individual targets more effectively. The EQX 15 excels in open fields, pastures, and beach environments where targets are spread out and depth matters more than separation. If you're hunting X-TERRA Elite in a Civil War camp with scattered iron, switch to the smaller coil for cleanup passes.
