The LG15 does not detect deeper than the stock 11-inch coil on coin-sized and larger targets in open ground. Larger coils generate a wider and deeper detection field, so the 11-inch stock coil will outperform the 6-inch LG15 on depth in sites with minimal trash. The LG15's advantage is target separation and maneuverability, not raw depth. You gain the ability to isolate small targets masked by adjacent iron and to swing the coil in confined spaces where the 11-inch coil can't reach, but you trade depth on isolated targets in clean ground. For maximum depth on open fields and beaches, consider the larger LG28 or LG35 coils in the Legend accessory lineup.
