Inspect the coil mount for play or wobble before each hunt. If the coil shifts laterally when you apply light hand pressure, the top hat spacer or wing nut threads are worn and should be replaced. Visible flattening or deformation on the spacer's contact surfaces, cracks in the wing nut's grip wings, or stripped threads on the bolt are clear signs the hardware has reached end-of-life. A loose mount throws off the detector's balance and can introduce false signals as the coil rocks during swings. Replacing the kit restores the tight connection and prevents stress transfer to the coil's plastic lugs.
