The stem mount bracket is built from durable materials suitable for field use, but XP does not specify a waterproof rating for the mount itself. The WS4 and WS6 headphone modules remain shower-proof when stem-mounted, as their sealed construction protects internal electronics from rain and splash. Detectorists hunting in wet conditions can use the stem-mounted configuration without concern for light rain or spray, but full submersion of the stem-mounted module is not recommended unless you are using the XP Waterproof Kit, which seals the entire detector system for underwater operation.
