The nylon and plastic materials of the lanyard tolerate exposure to moisture during field use. The lanyard is not designed for underwater use. If you're wading chest-deep or detecting in surf zones where the remote might go underwater, use a waterproof case or pouch for the Deus II remote control in addition to the lanyard for drop protection. The 5-inch strap keeps the remote tethered during beach detecting and shallow water hunts where splashing may occur, but full submersion protection requires additional waterproof housing for the remote itself.
