You can use the XP 5mm classifier as a standalone sieve if your source material is already relatively fine or if you're reworking concentrates from a previous session. Set the 5mm classifier over a bucket and shake your gravel through it to remove rocks and debris before panning. However, most prospectors find that running the 10mm classifier first speeds up the process when working raw creek gravels or bench deposits, because the larger screen strips out fist-sized cobbles and reduces the load on the 5mm mesh. The two-stage setup is faster overall, but the 5mm classifier works fine on its own for smaller batches or pre-classified material. Explore more gold prospecting equipment to build your field kit.
