The XP 5mm classifier will work over any bucket or container, so you can use it with a non-XP gold pan if you prefer a different brand for your final panning step. The classifier's job is to remove rocks and debris before the material reaches your pan, and it doesn't require a specific pan model to function. However, the stacking feature only works with other XP pans and classifiers, because the XP pans are designed to stack together. If you're using a different brand's pan, you'll need to transfer the classified material from the bucket into your pan rather than stacking the classifier directly on top of it.
