The Lesche Sampson Ball Handle Shovel is best suited for relic hunting, coin and jewelry hunting in farm fields and cellar holes, and gold prospecting in streams and dry washes. The 31-inch length and narrow 7.5-inch blade work well in open ground away from manicured parks where you need to dig deeper targets and move more soil. Relic hunters working foundation sites and old homesteads use the Sampson to cut through root mats and rocky soil. The shovel is not ideal for urban park hunting where a handheld digger is more appropriate.
