The Ground Shark 36" can be used for beach detecting, but a flat-blade sand scoop moves volume faster in loose sand and wet beach environments. The serrated edge is designed for root-heavy sites and compacted soil, where it cuts through fibrous material and root balls without deflecting. On dry sand or wet sand, the serrations offer no advantage over a flat blade, and the 36-inch length makes the shovel less portable than a short-handled scoop. Detectorists who hunt both wooded sites and beaches often carry a Ground Shark for inland hunts and a separate sand scoop for beach sessions.
