In specific beach situations - yes. The MD20's extreme fine-target sensitivity detects thin rings, fine chain links, and earrings at shallow depths that standard coils can pass over. In rocky beach areas and tidal zones where a swing-coil machine cannot get into crevices, the probe format accesses targets physically inaccessible to conventional machines. For general beach detecting and surf zone recovery, a standard beach metal detector with multi-frequency technology covers the broad-coverage work more effectively. See beach metal detectors.
