Over the past 3 summers, my kids and I have been fortunate to discover over 120 buttons that are from the War of 1812 era. Without going into precise locations, these are all from northern Michigan and relate to Fort Mackinac. In the summer of 2018 my 4 children (16,13,11 and 8 years old) and I found 40 buttons while vacationing at our cottage. See first pic. In 2019 we found 43 more buttons at a couple sites along with a few copper culture indian artifacts. See second pic. This past summer we found over 40 buttons along with many other relics including a trade ax that my mother found. All of these were found with the Minelab Equinox 800. I purchased one from Serious Detecting in the early spring of 2018 after 6 years of swinging the Etrac. In late 2019 I sold my Etrac and purchased another Equinox 800 from Serious. It is always good to have a backup and my kids all clamored for their turn with it. My mother also sold her Etrac and purchased an Equinox 800 in late 2019. Our Etracs (although I LOVE this machine) could not see through the iron nails at these sites. These sites have been detected by multiple people with multiple machines over the years but fortunately for us no one had swung an Equinox at these sites before we did.
