The XP DEUS II software update 4.0 has arrived with stereo multi-processing and enhanced audio features, but there's a critical compatibility catch you need to know about before hitting that update button.
This deus 2 update 4.0 only works with specific stereo wireless headphones. If you're using standard mono headphones, updating will brick your headphones until you roll back to version 3.1.
⚠️ Critical Compatibility Check — Read This First
DEUS II Software Version 4.0 currently applies only to owners of stereo wireless headphones.
You should update to Version 4.0 only if you own one of these stereo headphone models:
If you don't own stereo wireless headphones, DO NOT update to Version 4.0.
Updating without compatible stereo headphones will cause your headphones not to turn on. If this happens, you'll need to revert your DEUS II remote control back to Software Version 3.1.
Skip Version 4.0 If You Use These Headphones
Users with these non-stereo headphone models must wait for version 4.1:
For these models, maintain your current software version until the 4.1 release.
What's New in DEUS II Version 4.0
Stereo Multi-Processing
This is the big one — two completely independent detection channels running simultaneously with true stereo spatialization. Think of it as having two detectors in one, each feeding audio to a different ear.
Multi-Reactivity Feature
You can now run two different reactivity levels at once. No more choosing between depth and selectivity — you get both.
Audio Morphing Technology
The audio signature changes as you approach targets, giving you better depth and distance perception. Combined with stereo processing, it creates a dynamic soundscape that makes target interpretation more intuitive.
Enhanced Ferrous Target ID
Iron identification gets a boost with more distinctive sound signatures, especially helpful in trashy sites with lots of ferrous contamination.
Independent Channel Configuration
Each detection channel can be configured separately for:
- Audio type
- Tone profiles
- Sensitivity levels
- Volume settings
- Stereo positioning (left/right)
Coming Soon: DEUS II Version 4.1 Update
XP has confirmed that Software Version 4.1 is coming soon and will solve the compatibility issues.
The deus 2 4.1 update will allow all DEUS II users to update, including those using non-stereo headphones.
Version 4.1 Will Include:
- Full compatibility with non-stereo headphones (WSAII, WSAII XL, WS6)
- Dynamic stereo spatialization for the MI-6 pinpointer when paired with DEUS II and stereo headphones
- Access to the 4th audio type Low Square for all users
- Complete Stereo Multi-Processing menus on the WS6 Master
- Additional audio and performance improvements
Should You Wait for Version 4.1?
If you've got stereo headphones and want the new features now, version 4.0 is solid. But if you're using mono headphones or want the MI-6 pinpointer integration, waiting for 4.1 makes more sense.
The stereo multi-processing really shines in trashy areas where you're dealing with lots of targets close together. Having different audio signatures in each ear helps separate good targets from junk.
