What happens if I use a regular pinpointer at the beach?

A standard non-waterproof pinpointer will be damaged by submersion in water and may fail immediately or progressively after exposure to salt water. Do I need a different pinpointer for beach and land detecting?

Not necessarily - the Garrett Pro-Pointer AT is fully capable on both land and beach conditions. A waterproof pinpointer works on land equally well as a standard pinpointer; the waterproofing adds no disadvantage for land use. If you detect on both land and beach, a waterproof pinpointer like the Pro-Pointer AT covers both without needing two separate tools.
