The Minelab Go Find 66 is the top model in Minelab's GO-FIND series, and the only beginner detector at this price point that ships with four dedicated Find Modes, Easy-Trak automatic ground tracking, and Bluetooth audio in a frame that folds to backpack size. Coming from a toy detector or a single-mode entry machine, the gap is immediate: four audio tones map to target categories from the first swing, ground balance adjusts without any input, and every control lands within thumb reach on the grip. A new hunter builds real skills on the Minelab GO-FIND 66, not just habits.

What You Gain Coming from a Simpler Machine

    • Four Find Modes cover every common scenario without custom setup. Non-Ferrous, Jewellery and Coins, Higher Value Coins, and All Metal replace the guesswork of running a single-mode entry machine. The right mode is one button from anywhere on the panel.
    • Easy-Trak adjusts ground balance continuously. Fixed-ground-balance machines become unstable when soil shifts from dry park turf to wet grass or tidal sand. Easy-Trak tracks through those transitions without any input from the user.
    • Four audio tones identify targets by ear before the display confirms. Low tone for iron, mid-1 for low-value non-ferrous, mid-2 for higher-value non-ferrous, high for precious metals. Audio skills built on this machine carry to every detector after it.
    • Bluetooth 4.0 and the free GO-FIND app add coin ID and find-logging. Wireless headphone audio, a coin identification library, and Google Maps find-logging come standard. This feature set is not common at this price.

Comparing GO-FIND models or evaluating this against other beginner options? Our kids and beginner detector guide breaks down the decision by age, site type, and budget.

    Field Use

    Parks and Schoolyards: Coin Shooting

Higher Value Coins mode filters most shallow iron and pull tabs while keeping silver and clad signals active. In heavy-trash areas, pull sensitivity back to level 2 or 3 to cut chatter from bottle caps near the surface. In older, lower-trash parks, run level 4 or 5 to open up depth. The five Treasure View LEDs give a green or red read on target category before committing to a dig, a quick visual check for new hunters still building audio reading.

    • Mode: Higher Value Coins
    • Sensitivity: 2–3 (heavy trash), 4–5 (clean ground)
    • Ground Balance: Easy-Trak (automatic)

    Beaches and Shorelines: Shallow Water

The 10" coil is waterproof to 1 m (3.3 ft), which puts surf edges, tidal flats, and freshwater shorelines in range. Jewellery and Coins mode keeps gold and silver targets live. Wet sand and saltwater increase ground noise; drop sensitivity to level 2 for stable signals. Easy-Trak recalibrates as mineralization shifts from dry to wet sand, which is a real advantage over fixed-ground-balance machines at variable shoreline sites. The coil submerges; the control box does not.

    • Mode: Jewellery and Coins
    • Sensitivity: 2–3 (wet or saltwater), 4–5 (dry sand)
    • Ground Balance: Easy-Trak (automatic)

    Technology

VFLEX runs at 8 kHz, balancing sensitivity to coin-size non-ferrous targets with consistent ground tracking across parks, fields, and shorelines. Easy-Trak monitors the ground signal continuously and adjusts compensation in real time, which removes the variable that disrupts most entry-level machines when soil conditions change mid-hunt. Build, Display, and Audio

At 1.1 kg (2.3 lbs), the GO-FIND 66 runs comfortably in smaller hands through a full afternoon. Extended length is 130.5 cm (51.4 in); collapsed, it folds to 55.5 cm with no assembly and no parts to lose. The monochrome LCD with white backlight is readable in shade and activates on demand for late-day sessions. Five Treasure View LEDs read green for non-ferrous and red for iron, large enough to check mid-swing. Four AA batteries (not included) power the machine, with no charge cycle between weekend hunts.

Four audio tones run through five volume levels from the built-in speaker down to quiet earbuds. Wired earbuds ship in the box on the 3.5 mm jack. Bluetooth 4.0 connects compatible wireless headphones via the GO-FIND app. Adding a pinpointer from the first hunt shortens target recovery time significantly in any soil type.

    Coil

The 10" rectangular monoloop ships hard-wired. The rectangular profile covers more linear ground per sweep than a comparably sized round coil, improving grid efficiency on open parkland. Waterproof to 1 m (3.3 ft). No aftermarket coil options are available for the GO-FIND 66; the hard-wired 10" is the only configuration.
