Coiltek just dropped three new Goldhawk coils specifically engineered for the Minelab GPX 6000. These aren't just rebranded versions of existing coils — each size brings distinct advantages for different hunting scenarios.
What Makes the Goldhawk Series Different
The Goldhawk coils use Coiltek's latest mono coil technology, designed to maximize the GPX 6000's already impressive gold-finding capabilities. Unlike DD coils, these mono designs push deeper into mineralized ground while maintaining sensitivity to small gold flecks.
All three sizes share the same rugged construction and lightweight design that won't fatigue you during long prospecting sessions. The coil cables are reinforced at stress points — a common failure area on aftermarket coils.
9" Goldhawk Mono - The Precision Hunter
The 9" round coil excels in trashy areas and tight spaces between rocks. Its smaller profile gives you better target separation when you're working old detector patches or areas with lots of hot rocks.
We've tested this coil in heavily worked ground around Prescott, Arizona, and it consistently picks up sub-gram nuggets that larger coils miss. The trade-off is depth — you'll lose some penetration compared to the bigger coils, but the sensitivity gain often makes up for it.
10x5" Goldhawk Mono - Best All-Around Choice
This elliptical coil might be the sweet spot for most GPX 6000 users. The elongated shape covers more ground than the 9" while still fitting between rocks and brush.
The 10x5" really shines in creek beds and wash areas where gold tends to settle in cracks and crevices. The narrow profile lets you work along rock faces and under overhangs where larger coils can't reach.
14x9" Goldhawk Mono - The Deep Seeker
If you're working open ground and want maximum depth, this is your coil. The larger detection field means better depth on bigger nuggets, but you'll need to swing slower to maintain good target ID.
This coil works best in areas with minimal trash and moderate mineralization. In highly mineralized ground, you might need to back off the sensitivity settings more than with the smaller coils.
GPX 6000 Coil Compatibility
These Goldhawk coils connect directly to your Minelab GPX 6000 without adapters or modifications. The detector automatically recognizes each coil size and adjusts its internal settings accordingly.
For comparison with other Minelab detectors, these coils won't work on older GPX models or the newer Manticore series — they're GPX 6000 specific.
Which Goldhawk Coil Should You Choose?
Your choice depends on where and how you hunt:
9" coil: Trashy areas, tight spaces, maximum sensitivity to small gold
10x5" coil: General prospecting, creek beds, best balance of coverage and maneuverability
14x9" coil: Open ground, maximum depth on larger targets, covering new territory quickly
Many serious prospectors end up with at least two sizes — typically the 10x5" for general use and either the 9" for tight spots or the 14x9" for open country work.
Availability and What's Next
All three Goldhawk coils are in stock now. Based on Coiltek's track record with previous releases, expect occasional shortages as word spreads in the prospecting community.
If you're running the stock 11" coil on your GPX 6000 and want to expand your hunting options, any of these Goldhawk coils will open up new possibilities. Check out our full selection of Minelab specials for current pricing and bundle options.
