The King of Spades 40 in shovel pairs a 13 in welded straight-edge blade with a shock-absorbing D handle that softens the jolt of hard digging. It is hand built in the USA from aircraft quality steel tubing and heat treated for strength, so it takes the prying and chopping that bends ordinary shovels.
