The Minelab Pro-Find 35 is Minelab's top handheld pinpointer: waterproof to 10 feet, with Ferrous Tone ID that tells you iron from non-iron before you pull the target, and DIF circuitry that keeps it from falsing your detector when you bring the two together. It is the pinpointer we pair with the Equinox, Manticore and Vanquish, and it works just as well beside any other brand's detector. The holster, lanyard and a 9-volt battery are in the box.

Pro-Find 35, 20 or 15: which Minelab pinpointer do you need?

All three share the same probe and body. The Pro-Find 35 adds Ferrous Tone ID, five sensitivity levels, vibration as well as audio, and the 10-foot waterproof rating, which makes it the one for beach, creek and relic hunters. The Pro-Find 20 drops the tone ID and vibration and is rated for shallower water; the Pro-Find 15 is the basic wired-in model for dry-land coin shooting. Our Minelab pinpointers collection lists all three side by side. If you run a Garrett detector, the Garrett Pro-Pointer AT is the equivalent tool with the same 10-foot rating.

What it does in the hole

Once your detector's pinpoint mode has the target within a few inches, the Pro-Find 35 finds it in the plug or the hole wall: audio and vibration both ramp up as the tip gets closer, and vibration alone works when you are under water or in surf noise. Ferrous Tone ID gives a low tone on iron and a high tone on everything else, so on a nail-choked relic site you can leave the iron and dig the non-ferrous signal, which also helps detectors without discrimination. Five sensitivity levels, set with separate plus and minus buttons, let you turn it down in hot mineralised ground or salt sand and up for a small gold earring. The LED lights the hole in low light, and the lost alarm sounds after a few minutes of inactivity so the pinpointer does not stay in the grass when you walk off. It runs about 30 hours on a 9-volt battery, weighs 6.8 oz, and the bright yellow grip is easy to see in a dark hole. See our other pinpointers to compare rechargeable and wireless options.

Does the Minelab Pro-Find 35 work with non-Minelab detectors?

Yes. The Pro-Find 35 is a standalone handheld pinpointer; it does not connect to the detector, so it works beside a Garrett, Nokta, XP or any other machine. Its DIF circuitry is designed so it does not false or interfere when you bring it near a running detector coil, whatever the brand. The Ferrous Tone ID is especially useful with detectors that have little or no discrimination. See all the pinpointers we stock if you want a rechargeable or wireless alternative.

What is the difference between the Minelab Pro-Find 35 and Pro-Find 20?

The Pro-Find 35 adds Ferrous Tone ID (a low tone on iron, high on everything else), vibration as well as audio, five sensitivity levels and a 10-foot waterproof rating. The Pro-Find 20 has audio only, fewer sensitivity steps and a shallower water rating, at a lower price. If you hunt beaches, creeks or iron-heavy relic sites, buy the 35; for dry-land coin shooting the 20 does the job. Both are in our Minelab pinpointers collection.

Is the Minelab Pro-Find 35 waterproof?

Yes, the Pro-Find 35 is waterproof to 10 feet (3 metres), so it goes in the surf, creeks and shallow lakes alongside a waterproof detector. Use vibration mode under water where you cannot hear the tone, rinse it in fresh water after salt, and check the battery cap O-ring when you change the 9-volt. It pairs naturally with the Minelab Equinox and other submersible machines.
