Minelab GM2000-05 5 in Round DD Coil for Gold Monster 2000

The Minelab GM2000-05 is the 5 in round Double-D coil that ships on the Minelab Gold Monster 2000, sold here as a genuine replacement or spare. It is the coil the Gold Monster 2000's Multi-Au engine was tuned around: a small footprint for bedrock crevices, dense mineralized patches and rocky ground, with the Double-D field pattern that keeps ground rejection stable in the ironstone and black sand this machine is built for.

It is not the same coil as the Gold Monster 1000's GM05. The two look alike, but the GM2000-05 is made for the Gold Monster 2000 and Minelab has not listed it as compatible with the Gold Monster 1000. Gold Monster 1000 owners want the GM05 5 in coil instead.

When a 5 in Coil Is the Right Coil

A 5 in coil trades depth on large targets for sensitivity to small ones and the ability to get between rocks. On the Gold Monster 2000 that is the point: sub-gram nuggets sit in cracks and against hot rocks where an 8 or 10 in coil sees two or three things at once and blurs the signal. Run it in Difficult mode over mineralized ground and Normal or Benign over quiet ground, exactly as you would the coil that came in the box. The coil is waterproof to 1 m (3.3 ft), so shallow creek beds and wet gravel bars are in bounds as long as the IP55 control pod stays above the water.
