Garrett Battery Cover for ACE 150, 200, 250, 300, 350, 400 - Yellow

The Garrett battery cover is the small yellow cap that slides onto the back of an ACE control housing and holds the four AA batteries in place. It is also the part that goes missing first. It comes off every time you change batteries, it is light enough to slide off a tailgate unnoticed, and once the side rails crack it will not stay seated. A few dollars puts an older ACE back in the field instead of on a shelf.

Who This Part Is For

This is a straight replacement for ACE owners whose cover is lost, cracked along the rails, or too loose to stay put. One cover covers the whole ACE line: the ACE 150, 200, 250, 300, 350 and 400 all share it. If your unit is badged ACE 200i, 300i or 400i, that is the same detector as the 200, 300 and 400 sold here and this is the right cover. It is a genuine Garrett part rather than a generic fit, so the rails line up with the housing the way the original did.

If your detector is cutting out or reading low battery on fresh cells, the cover is not your problem. How the ACE Battery Cover Works

Garrett's own ACE 150 and 250 manual keeps it simple: you reach the batteries by gently sliding the cover off the control housing. No screws, no tools, and the moulded ridge on the outside gives your thumb something to push against with cold or gloved hands. A cover that feels stuck is usually packed with grit in the rails rather than broken.

Two things from that same manual are worth knowing while the cover is off. Garrett rates the ACE at 20 to 40 hours of operation per set of AA batteries depending on the type, and recommends quality alkaline cells for best performance. NiMH rechargeables will work, but you get a shorter run per charge. Garrett also advises taking the batteries out whenever the detector will sit unused for more than 30 days, which is the cheapest way there is to avoid a leaking cell ruining a control housing worth many times the price of this part.
