What is the difference between the XP MI-4 and the XP MI-6 pinpointer?

The difference between the XP MI-4 and the XP MI-6 pinpointer is the radio link. The MI-6 pairs with a Deus or ORX so the detector can control it and find it if lost; the MI-4 drops that link and runs standalone. Otherwise they share the same body, 6 m waterproofing, six programs, pitch/pulse audio, and rechargeable lithium battery. How do you charge the XP MI-4 pinpointer and how long does the battery last?

You charge the XP MI-4 pinpointer by unscrewing the end cap and plugging the supplied cable into any USB power source (a phone charger, PC, or power bank). A full charge takes about 3 hours; the LED flashes while charging and switches to a 4-second on/off cycle when done. Runtime is roughly 30 hours on audio or vibration alone, 20 hours with both, and 11 hours with the LED and vibration on. It auto-shuts off after 5 minutes idle. Is the XP MI-4 pinpointer waterproof enough for beach and river hunting?

Yes, the XP MI-4 pinpointer is waterproof to 6 meters (about 20 feet), so it can be fully submerged for beach, surf, and river hunting. On wet salt sand or mineralized ground, XP's manual recommends retuning with a short button press while the tip is touching the ground, which cancels the ground signal and stops false alerts. Rinse it in fresh water after saltwater use and keep the charging cap screwed down tight. It is one of the deeper-rated units in our XP waterproof pinpointer lineup.
