The Raytech Tumble-Vibe 10 is built for the stage of lapidary work that comes after cutting. If you have preformed cabochons or cut small slabs and you want a high polish without losing the shape you just spent time creating, a vibratory rock polisher is the right tool. It vibrates the load at high frequency so the grit abrades surfaces in place, rather than rolling stones over one another. Edges, facet junctions, and dome profiles survive the process.

This kit pairs the motorized Tumble-Vibe 10 base and 10 inch bowl with Raytech's GSH-2 Stone Finishing Kit, so the four abrasive stages arrive together instead of being sourced separately.

When a different tumbler is the better buy

Be clear about what you want out of the machine before ordering, because a vibratory unit is not a general-purpose replacement for a rotary one.

• If you want rounded, river-stone results from rough material, buy a rotary tumbler instead. Rotary tumbling rounds and softens edges over several weeks. That is exactly what this machine is designed not to do. Our full tumbler and cleaning range covers both types.
• If you are running smaller batches, the Tumble-Vibe 5 with the 8 inch bowl does the same job in a smaller capacity for less money. Step up to the 10 only if you are regularly filling the larger bowl.
• Note that this model has no drain. You decant the slurry and rinse the bowl by hand between stages. On a machine that runs multi-stage cycles this is a real handling consideration, not a footnote.

Working through the four grit stages

The included GSH-2 kit covers the full sequence, and each stage exists to erase the scratch pattern left by the one before it.

1. Silicon Carbide 100/120, rough grind. Takes down saw marks and the coarse scratches left from shaping. This is the stage that removes material.
2. Silicon Carbide 700F, fine grind. Replaces the coarse scratch pattern with a much finer one. Skipping or shortening this stage is the most common reason a final polish comes out cloudy.
3. Iolox 50, pre-polish. Brings the surface close to finished before the polishing compound goes anywhere near it.
4. Raybrite TL, final polish. Produces the gloss.

The single most important habit with any vibratory rock polisher is cleaning between stages. Wash the stones, the bowl, and the lid thoroughly every time you change grit. One coarse grain carried forward into the polish stage will scratch an entire batch, and because this bowl has no drain, that cleaning is a manual step you have to build into your routine. Many workers keep a dedicated bowl per stage for this reason. Additional spare bowls and lids are available separately.

The noise-reducing lid is standard on this model, which matters because vibratory machines run for hours at a time and are typically kept in a garage or shop rather than a spare room. When you exhaust the supplied compounds, replacements are in our rock tumbler polish and grit selection.

Buying the GSH-2 kit as part of the package matters more than it might look on a spec sheet. Sourcing four matched compounds individually is where new lapidary setups usually stall, and mixing grit grades from different suppliers makes it harder to diagnose a bad finish. Starting with Raytech's own matched sequence gives you a known baseline, so if a batch comes out wrong you can trace it to your process rather than your materials.
