Garrett Z-Lynk WR-1 Wireless Receiver for 2-Pin AT Headphones

The Z-Lynk WR-1 receiver works with Garrett AT Gold, AT Pro, AT Pro International, Sea Hunter Mark II, and ATX metal detectors when paired with the separately sold Z-Lynk WT-1 transmitter and a 2-pin headphone cable. The transmitter connects to your detector's headphone jack via the 2-pin cable, then broadcasts audio wirelessly to the WR-1 module on your headphones. The system supports both VLF single-frequency detectors and pulse multi-frequency models. You can keep multiple detectors wireless-ready by purchasing additional Z-Lynk transmitters, one for each detector in your Garrett AT Series lineup.

The Z-Lynk WR-1 receiver requires two additional components to operate: the Z-Lynk WT-1 transmitter module and a Z-Lynk headphone cable with a 2-pin AT connector, both sold separately. The transmitter mounts to your detector's control box and connects via the 2-pin cable to the detector's headphone jack. The WR-1 receiver plugs into your existing 2-pin wired headphones, converting them to wireless. Without the transmitter and cable, the WR-1 receiver cannot receive audio signals from your detector. Garrett designed the system as separate modules so you can add transmitters to multiple detectors while using one receiver across your Garrett AT Pro and AT Gold setups.

The Z-Lynk WR-1 receiver delivers approximately 30 hours of operation per charge under typical hunting conditions. Battery life depends on volume level, ambient temperature, and if you leave the module powered on during breaks. The WR-1 includes an auto-off function that powers down the receiver after 30 minutes of inactivity to preserve battery life when you set your detector aside. Recharge the module via the included micro-USB cable by connecting it to a laptop, vehicle USB port, or smartphone power block. A full recharge takes several hours; plan to charge overnight before weekend hunts.

The Z-Lynk WR-1 receiver carries an IP52 water-resistance rating, which protects internal electronics from light rain and splashed water but does not make the module submersible. You can wear the WR-1 during drizzle or when wading shallow creeks where water might splash onto your headphones, but remove the module before submerging your headphones or hunting in heavy downpours. The IP52 rating means the housing resists water droplets falling at an angle up to 15 degrees from vertical. If you hunt beaches where waves reach chest height or detect in sustained rain, disconnect the WR-1 and switch to wired headphones to avoid water damage.

The Z-Lynk WR-1 receiver delivers audio with a 17-millisecond delay from the moment your detector processes a target signal, which is six times faster than standard Bluetooth latency. Bluetooth audio typically introduces 100 to 200 milliseconds of lag, enough to create a noticeable gap between your coil passing over a target and hearing the tone. The 17-millisecond delay is imperceptible to human hearing, so iron falsing, foil chirps, and deep coin signals reach your ears with the same immediacy as wired headphones. This speed advantage matters when you're working trashy sites where split-second audio cues help you distinguish good targets from junk.

The Z-Lynk WR-1 receiver accepts any wired headphones equipped with a 2-pin connector, so you can pair it with Garrett MS-2 or MS-3 headphones, DetectorPro Gray Ghost headphones, or other aftermarket models that use the 2-pin standard. The WR-1 does not work with headphones that have a 1/4-inch plug, 1/8-inch mini plug, or proprietary wireless connectors unless you add an adapter cable. The 2-pin connector is common across many detector brands, giving you flexibility to choose headphones based on earcup comfort, sound signature, or noise-isolation performance rather than being locked into a single wireless model.

The Z-Lynk WR-1 receiver uses frequency-hopping technology on the 2.4 GHz band to prevent interference with nearby wireless headphones and other devices. The system automatically cycles through thousands of available channels, so when you hunt crowded beaches or club events where multiple detectorists run wireless setups, your audio stays clean without manual frequency selection. The frequency-hopping algorithm creates an effectively infinite number of channels by rapidly switching between frequencies within the 2.4 GHz band. This design eliminates the cross-talk and static common with older fixed-frequency wireless systems.

The Z-Lynk WR-1 receiver operates in temperatures from -20°C to 60°C (-4°F to 140°F), covering the range most detectorists encounter during spring, summer, and fall hunts. The lithium-ion battery performs best at moderate temperatures; extreme cold below 0°F may reduce runtime, and prolonged exposure to temperatures above 130°F (such as leaving the module in a closed vehicle during summer) can degrade battery capacity over time. Store the WR-1 in a climate-controlled environment between hunts, and avoid leaving it in direct sunlight on your dashboard.
