The Minelab Go-Find 11 metal detector runs on VFLEX, Minelab's VLF transmission circuit, in a 2.2-lb folding detector that fits in a backpack and deploys in 30 seconds. Two find modes, three sensitivity levels, and a single button make up the entire interface. For a first detector or a machine to hand a child at the park, this delivers genuine target discrimination at $99 from an authorized US dealer.
Why the Go-Find 11 Is the Right First Detector
- Four-segment LCD discrimination separates iron from non-ferrous before the dig. An icon lights up for the specific target category alongside a matching audio tone, so you are reading two signals before committing a hole.
- At 1.0 kg (2.2 lbs) fully assembled, younger users can swing for two hours without arm fatigue. Fatigue ends sessions early; lighter weight keeps kids out longer.
- The shaft collapses to 21.9 inches for storage and extends to 51.4 inches for use, with adjustment to fit different heights. No tools, no assembly steps.
- The 8" rectangular monoloop coil is waterproof to 3.3 ft (1 m), covering shallow shorelines, wet sand, and light rain without ending the session.
- Ready to move up? The Minelab Go-Find 22 adds two more search modes and a depth indicator as the natural next step in the Go-Find lineup.

Where It Performs Best
Backyards and Neighborhood Parks
Parks and residential yards are the most common entry point into detecting. Trash density is moderate, soil mineralization is typically low, and coins or small jewelry sit within a foot of the surface. Reject Iron mode keeps the dig count manageable by filtering nails and most ferrous junk. Medium sensitivity handles the majority of park conditions without causing chatter on scattered iron.
- Mode: Reject Iron
- Sensitivity: Medium
- Volume: Medium to High
Shallow Shorelines and Wet Sand
Shorelines concentrate lost jewelry and coins at the waterline, and the Go-Find 11's waterproof coil handles wading ankle-deep in a lake edge or sweeping wet ocean sand without issue. All Metal mode on low-trash shorelines catches the deepest and smallest targets that Reject Iron might skip. Drop sensitivity one level if the environment generates false signals.
- Mode: All Metal (low trash) or Reject Iron (heavy trash)
- Sensitivity: Medium; Low if chatter occurs
- Volume: Medium
VFLEX Technology and 4-Segment Discrimination
VFLEX is Minelab's label for the VLF transmission circuit running at 8 kHz on the Go-Find 11. That frequency sits in a practical general-purpose range, picking up silver and copper coins consistently while staying stable across common soil mineralization levels.
The discrimination system divides targets into four segments, each mapped to an icon on the monochrome LCD display: iron (low tone), low-value metals (mid-1 tone), higher-value metals (mid-2 tone), and precious metals including silver (high tone). The icon and tone fire together, so you read a visual and an audio signal before the dig. That dual feedback is the practical difference between making an informed dig decision and guessing.
Build, Display, and Audio
The detector uses a folding shaft construction instead of a traditional telescoping lower rod, which reduces both weight and packed length. Extended length is 51.4 inches (130.5 cm); collapsed is 21.9 inches (55.5 cm). The monochrome LCD shows the active find mode, target category icon, sensitivity setting, and battery level. There is no numeric target ID and no depth indicator on this model.
Audio runs through a built-in speaker with three volume levels. The 3.5mm jack on the rear panel accepts standard wired earbuds for quiet hunting or when working in noisy environments. Headphones are not included. For faster target recovery in the field, our pinpointer collection includes compatible models that cut dig time from minutes to seconds.
Search Coil
The included 8" rectangular monoloop is hard-wired to the shaft and waterproof to 1 m (3.3 ft). Monoloop (concentric) geometry gives a focused detection cone that handles moderate trash conditions reliably and produces accurate pinpoint response on shallow targets. Minelab does not list optional aftermarket coils for the Go-Find 11; the included coil is the operating coil for the life of the detector.
