Tele-Knox Carbon Fiber Shafts and Ergonomic Upgrades by Detecting Innovations
Detecting Innovations is the maker of the Tele-Knox line of aftermarket upgrades for the Minelab Equinox 600 and 800. Designed by veteran detectorist and longtime Minelab user Scott Ellis, the range centers on telescopic carbon fiber shafts that replace the factory Equinox stem, alongside an aluminum armcup, a folding control box adapter, keypad covers, and replacement hardware. At Serious Detecting we stock the Tele-Knox range because it solves real complaints we hear from Equinox owners: shaft wobble, bulky transport length, and arm fatigue on long hunts. A complete Tele-Knox stem and armrest weighs just 0.299 kg (about 10.5 oz), and the anti-rotation profile built into each rod eliminates the twist and coil wobble that cause false signals in trashy or mineralized ground.
Choosing Between the S-Stem, Straight, and Short Telescopic Shafts
The right shaft depends on your height, hunting style, and how you transport your gear. The S-Stem telescopic shaft mirrors the ergonomic curve of Minelab's original design, collapses to 24" (60 cm) for travel, and extends to roughly 58" (147 cm) — we believe it was the first S-stem ever manufactured as an Equinox replacement. The straight telescopic stem closes to 21" (53 cm) and opens to 52" (132 cm), a popular choice for detectorists who prefer a straight-rod feel or hip-mount setups. The short 18" version extends to 42" (107 cm) and is sized for juniors and users under 5 ft (152 cm) tall. Taller hunters can add the 26" Tall Boy extended lower stem, which also doubles as a quick-swap carrier for a spare coil in the field.
Lightweight, Saltwater-Ready Construction
Every Tele-Knox shaft uses carbon fiber rods with glueless clamps and lever locks secured by stainless steel Allen bolts and locking nuts — tool-free in the field, and tightenable with the included key when needed. Coil-end fixings are injection molded rather than 3D printed for strength, and accept thicker CTX-style rubber washers (four included) that prevent the over-tightening problems common with stock Equinox coil bolts. Carbon fiber and stainless hardware shrug off saltwater spray and wet sand, making these shafts a natural pairing with the waterproof Equinox on the beach. Only the lower rod is always black: colored carbon contains metal foil in its finish that can interfere with detector signals, a detail that reflects how much field testing went into this line.
Compatibility With Your Minelab Equinox Setup
The Tele-Knox shafts, folding control box adapter, and keypad covers are purpose-built for the Minelab Equinox 600 and Equinox 800. The aluminum armcup is more universal — it fits any detector shaft matching the standard Equinox diameter, including the Tele-Knox carbon shafts, and ships with the same strap and padding as the original. The folding control box adapter works with both original Minelab shafts and most aftermarket stems, letting the control box fold flat against the shaft for compact transport.
