These are Minelab's wired waterproof headphones, built for detectorists who actually put the coil under water. They terminate in the sealed 3.5mm Equinox connector, so they plug straight into a Manticore, Equinox, X-TERRA or VANQUISH 60 and stay sealed while you wade. There is no Bluetooth here and no battery to die halfway through a tide window: the signal travels down a coiled cord, which is exactly why they keep working where wireless sets stop.

Should you buy these or a wireless set?

Buy these if you hunt surf, rivers, or wet sand and need audio that survives immersion. Skip them if you mostly hunt dry land and want to lose the cable, in which case the Minelab ML 80 Bluetooth headphones with aptX Low Latency are the better match, though they are not submersible. If you only need a basic land pair, the Minelab wired headphones with a 3.5mm jack cost less. Already own a set of premium 1/4-inch cans? The Minelab 1/4" to 1/8" adapter cable will get them onto your detector, but it will not make them waterproof.

How they work in the water

The whole assembly is sealed, connector included, so the failure point that kills ordinary headphones at the beach is designed out. Sand and saltwater are as much of a threat as immersion itself, and a vented land headphone will corrode or short after a season of surf hunting. Because the connection is wired, there is no pairing step and no latency: you hear the target the instant the coil passes it, which matters when you are working a wave line and only get one pass before the next surge.

These also connect to a Minelab WM 08 Wireless Audio Module if you already run one, which lets you keep the waterproof cups while moving the wireless link up to the module.

    Detector compatibility

Minelab lists these headphones as compatible with the following. The connector is the Equinox-style sealed 3.5mm fitting, so machines outside this list will not accept it directly.

    • MANTICORE
    • EQUINOX series
    • X-TERRA ELITE
    • X-TERRA PRO
    • VANQUISH 60 series

Do the Minelab waterproof headphones need charging?

No — the Minelab waterproof headphones do not need charging. They are wired, with no battery inside, so there is nothing to charge before a hunt and nothing to run flat during one. That matters on long water sessions, where a wireless set can die mid-tide and drop you back to the detector's speaker. Compare the full range of metal detector headphones.

Are the Minelab waterproof headphones Bluetooth?

No — the Minelab waterproof headphones are not Bluetooth. They are wired, ending in a sealed 3.5mm connector that plugs straight into the detector, which is what lets them stay watertight when submerged. If you want Bluetooth, the Minelab ML 80 headphones use aptX Low Latency, though they are not submersible. These can also feed a Minelab WM 08 Wireless Audio Module if you already run one.

Which Minelab detectors do these waterproof headphones fit?

The Minelab waterproof headphones fit the MANTICORE, the EQUINOX series, the X-TERRA PRO, the X-TERRA ELITE, and the VANQUISH 60 series. They use the sealed Equinox-style 3.5mm connector, so detectors outside that list will not take them directly. If you run a CTX 3030 or an SDC 2300, those machines need their own model-specific waterproof headphones.
