The Minelab Gold Monster 1000 is the easiest serious gold detector to run: 45 kHz VLF with a 24-bit processor for sub-gram nuggets, Easy-Trak automatic ground balance that follows the soil for you, and a Gold Chance Indicator on every target. This listing is our military discount price on the GM05 5 in coil pack, the compact configuration for bedrock, crevices and iron-heavy ground. The two-coil pack with the GM10 10 x 6 in coil is on our standard Gold Monster 1000 page.

What You Gain with the Gold Monster 1000
- 45 kHz sensitivity to fine gold: Most gold-capable VLF machines top out at 18 to 19 kHz. The Gold Monster runs at more than double that, producing strong responses to sub-gram targets that sit in the noise floor of lower-frequency detectors.
- Easy-Trak automatic ground balance: Mineralization shifts across a single creek bed or hillside. Easy-Trak monitors the ground and adjusts continuously, so you are not rebalancing every few steps.
- Gold Chance Indicator: A live gauge on the monochrome LCD that swings right for gold and other non-ferrous targets and left for iron and hot rocks.
- Manual and Auto+ sensitivity: Ten manual levels plus Auto and Auto+. On quiet ground Auto+ finds targets Auto misses; on chattery ground drop to Manual.
- Two search modes: Gold mode with iron rejection for trashy ground, Deep All Metal for maximum depth in clean ground. Two button presses to switch.
- GM05 5 in Double-D coil: Waterproof to 1 m (3.3 ft), with the tight footprint that handles bedrock cracks and iron-dense ground where a larger coil loses target separation.

Field Use with the 5 in Coil
Bedrock Crevices and Creek Beds
The GM05's footprint fits cracks and narrow bedrock channels where coarse placer gold collects. Run Gold mode with Auto or Auto+ sensitivity and let Easy-Trak handle the transitions between gravel and clay. Volume 5 or 6 near running water.
Old Diggings and Tailings
Tailings stack iron junk directly over gold-bearing material. The 5 in coil gives the tightest separation in iron, and Gold mode's iron reject quiets nails and bolts without silencing the small conductive targets at the same depth. Manual sensitivity 6 to 7 keeps it stable.
When to Add the GM10
Open gravel bars and flats reward the GM10 10 x 6 in elliptical, which covers more ground per swing and reaches deeper on larger targets. It is a two-minute swap at the rod-to-coil adapter and is sold on its own as the GM10 coil for the Gold Monster 1000.
